New Footed Cups

Footed Teacups
In Japan these cups are called 'Yunomi' and are everyday drinking cups. They have a tall foot to hold while the body of the cup is too hot to grip. You can hold the cup by the rim and foot and then wait for your chosen drink to come to a drinkable temperature and then they are lovely clasp in your hands.

Right: thrown and deeply textured while still on the wheel, then turned once leather hard. Made from an iron clay blend and glazed with my Cornish Stone and Dolomite glaze with additional melted hardwood ash. Approx 8.5cm tall x approx 9cm diameter at the rim.

Left: thrown from the same iron rich clay blend and glazed with both Cornish stone and Dolomite glaze and a mixed wood ash glaze. Approx 9cm tall x 9cm wide at the rim.
